The outgoing Chairman of Council/President Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) Mr. Edwin Igbiti, says the theme of his Presidency, “Building A Sustainable Legacy” has run its full course and “we were able to unlock the potential of this approach by focusing on a three-point agenda.”
Igbiti made this remark today at valedictory speech to mark the closing days of his two year term which took place at the NIA House, Victiria Island, Lagos. The valedictory event played out as endorsement of the success of the three point agenda he pursued. The upscaling was not by him alone but also trade bodies reps who took turns to endorse his tenure.
The three-point agenda which he took time to elaborate “was borne out of the need to maintain a continuity plan to build on and sustain the works of past Presidents of the Institute.”
The continuity model of the theme he explained made it to stay put in the face of uncertainties…”even in the face of global uncertainties, the Institute continued to meet the needs and aspirations of its members and also sustained a stronger strength of professionalism and ethical standards in the insurance industry. The sustainable legacy cuts across revamping the digital operations of the Institute, which was successfully executed.”
Full of appreciation to all he said they made the journey worth the sail. Like Apostle Paul Igbiti said he has run a good race and have fought a good fight, “and at the end, I count it all joy.” Part of that joy is the creation of platforms for the Institute members in diaspora to bridge the gap between diaspora members and the Institute with first-hand information from the Institute.
In areas where the fight was not concluded it was so because of the nature of the fight and he cited the e-library project which is still ongoing. Another is the process of conducting the Institute’s examination online. This was suspended he cleared to ensure that the integrity of the examinations is not compromised whenever it eventually kicks off.
