The Commissioner For Insurance, Mr O S Thomas, has charged the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, to reinforce the limits on the corridor of business etiquette and ethics in all members professional dealings.
Thomas gave the charge in his goodwill message at the NCRIB 2020 CEOs’ Retreat August 20, with the theme, “X-Raying the Finance Act 2020”, an assembly where replacing unprofessional conduct of few members could be addressed.
The CFI was blunt while pointing to the mud spots in the broking service. “Note that the unprofessional conduct of a few amongst you is posing danger to our collective integrity as an industry.” NAICOM helmsman held the view that lifting the industry image is a collective effort and if at any time a few are acting to reverse the efforts of others the wrong signals spread.
He therefore, reminds the NCRIB bloc that; “Over the years, a lot has been put into improving the fragile image and perception of insurance in this country.”
Having registered this he adds: “It is high time we all rise up to the menace of unethical business behaviour in our sector.”
