Lagos state government has paid the accrued pension rights of 219 retirees due September 2020, the total was N1,003,716,895.59 (One billion, three million, seven hundred and sixteen thousand eight hundred and ninety five kobo only.)
In a statement by the public affairs officer, Lagos State Pension Commission, Mrs. Mariam Adetokunbo Eko, relaying what happened at the 79th batch retirement bond presentation ceremony, said the Director General LASPEC, Babalola Obilana, advised the retirees to understand the pension programme options which is the programmed withdrawal and life annuity for their pension entitlements.
Obilana advised the retirees to be prudent and have recourse to the commission on any complaint. He said the state commitment to monthly obligation to settle accrued pension rights was “an assurance of continuous improvement in the delivery of dividends of democracy in the state.”
One of the retirees, who is also a former permanent secretary of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Toyin Awoseyi, appreciated the state government and the management and staff of the pension commission.
