National Pension Commission (PenCom) fund update show that as at January 2020, the pension fund assets stood at N10.44 tr and closed at N12.29 tr by November 2020, an increase of N1.85 tr.
The number of Retirement Savings Account (RSA) holders also moved from 8.93 million in January to 9.19 million.
However, the increase in funds contributed translated to expected more investment in federal government securities by the PFAs.
The PFAs invested N7.50 tr in FGN securities in January and N8.14 tr in November, representing 66.22 per cent of the total N12.29 tr fund assets.
A breakdown of the fund showed how the N8.14 tr was invested, FGN Bonds got N7.379 tr; treasury bills N642.02 bn; agency bonds N6.02 bn; Sukuk N100.07 bn; green bonds N11.814 bn.
Meanwhile, domestic ordinary shares N790.85 bn; foreign ordinary shares N17.33 bn; state government securities N150.58 bn; corporate debt securities N731.57 bn; local money market securities N1.79 tn; mutual funds N145.22 bn; real estate N158.60 bn; private equity funds N31.70 bn; infrastructure funds N57.07 bn; and cash and other assets N190.08 bn.
