91,499 Retirement Savings Account (RSA) holders has been added to the Contributory Pension Scheme by the Pension Fund Administrators between January and April 2021.
The computation by National Pension Commission (PenCom) show that contributors were 9,236,841 in January 2021 and as at April the total PFA registration has hit 9,328,340.
There was also a turnaround for pension fund assets as it recorded a rebound in March, thereby stepping out of the drop lane that warehoused pension assets in January and February. The rule of the previous two months ceased and exception followed after. The new rule has continued on growth trajectory gaining over N50 bn between March and April.
PenCom also noted that N8.32 tr had been invested in federal government’s securities out of the total N12.39tr. PenCom data also stated that investment in federal government instruments show that government bonds gulped N7.45tr investment; treasury bills, N690.43bn; agency bond, N13.01bn; sukuk bonds, N79.31bn and green bonds N79.81bn while investment in state government securities was N117.21bn
